Studio D’Artisan Celebrates Their 40th Anniversary with Natty Light

Can you believe it? Studio D’Artisan is turning 40! One of the original members of the Osaka Five, Studio has a long and storied history, all of which they’re celebrating with their Anniversary Collection.

Seattle’s Division Road is carrying an exemplar of this new Anniversary Collection: the SP-031. This new relaxed-tapered fit spares no expense and its unsanforized, natural indigo-dyed fabric is a testament to this brand’s commitment to excellence and eccentricity. The 15oz. denim is a light blue thanks to the natural indigo found in India, which should wear similarly to those jeans made before the advent of synthetic dyes. The unique Kazezome pot yarn dyeing technique, along with the medium tension, slightly slubby weave; make for a memorable denim.

The fit has a generous top block with a lined yoke, and a leg that tapers down to a fairly small leg opening. A rolled waistband, a pony-hair patch, and taped interior seams are further evidence of the lengths they’ll go to create a truly superlative product.

Available for $445 at Division Road Inc.
