Bamboo and Linen are a Perfect Blend in Modern Cotton’s New T-Shirt

You might remember Blake Ulves of Modern Cotton from our recent interview with him, in which he impressed us with his knowledge of textiles and fibers. You might have initially been skeptical to hear he was blending fibers in his LA-made T-shirts, but he dropped a real bombshell on us—the idea that 100% cotton isn’t necessarily the best option.

Modern Cotton makes their bread and butter by blending unconventional fibers for a blended tee that’s the comfiest money can buy. Their standard blend of cotton and Micro-Modal is shockingly soft to the touch and we can certainly expect the same from their newest blend—bamboo and linen.

Blending fibers makes a lot of sense. Because every material has its strengths and drawbacks, by mixing intelligently, you can complement strengths and mitigate shortcomings. Bamboo, for example, has a silky feel and lustrous shine, but it can sometimes cling in unflattering ways. Linen, on the other hand, is excellent at temperature regulation, but can be prickly and too structured. Mixing these two fibers makes for a t-shirt with the best of both worlds and that drapes just right. Now you can have the airiness of linen, the soft feel of bamboo, all wrapped up in a streetwear-esque package.

A rounded scoop and a split back add a few more details to the already-stacked Bamboo Linen Short Sleeve Crew. What we have here is a minimal, functional design built from the ground up to keep you cool and comfortable all summer long.
