Brown Leather Jackets – Five Plus One

Five Plus One is our weekly series of buyer’s guides. We pick a specific category and dig up five great options along with one that’s a little outside the norm.

If you’re looking for a jacket that you can wear everyday there is no better choice than a brown leather one. They’re versatile, comfortable, and look better with each and every wear. Unfortunately, leather jackets are far from inexpensive, and while we do our best to find something at all price points leather jackets can be prohibitive in that respect.

Regardless, we hope you all enjoy this list, even if you aren’t in a place to make such a purchase right now.

1) Pike Brothers: 1932 Roadster

Pike Brothers makes some gorgeous leather jackets at surprisingly affordable prices, such as their 1932 Roadster. Made in Greece from 100% cowhide, this jacket is classically designed but features many beautiful features such as a so called “action” back. This jacket is tight fitting, as leather jackets in this style should be, and will break in beautifully with wear.

Available for €599 from Pike Brothers.

2) Cromford Leather: Fly Rider

If you are looking for an extra special leather jacket then Cromford Leather’s Fly Rider is an excellent choice. Made in England from UK sourced sheepskin, this jacket has all the design features you could possibly hope for. From hidden snap pockets and a vintage brass RIRI zipper to the buckle-tab waist and acetate lined sleeves, nothing was overlooked by the makers of this jacket.

Available for $1925 from Division Road.

3) Himel Bros: French Goatskin Heron

The interesting leather train continues with Himel Bros’ Heron, which is shown here in French goatskin. While this brand is far from unknown to most Heddels readers, they are certainly deserving of a place on this list. This jacket features button cuffs, a tabbed waist, a Manitoba tartan lining, and the shawl collar that truly makes this jacket what it is.

Available for $1550 from Himel Bros.

4) Falcon Garments: MA-1 2.0

While I’d go for a smooth leather jacket for everyday wear, it’s hard to deny that the nappy leather pictured on Falcon Garment’s made-to-order MA-1 2.0 is gorgeous. That said, these made-to-order jackets are available in a wide range of leathers, so you can get whatever type of leather you like. These jackets feature YKK zippers; elasticated hem, cuffs, and collar; and hidden snap hand pockets.

Available for $875 from Falcon Garments.

5) Addict Clothes: AD-01 Horsehide

Addict Clothes might not be a brand that you’ve heard of, but they make some truly fantastic leather jackets. Their AD-01 Horsehide jacket is the perfect example. Made in Japan from horsehide and lined with quilted cotton, this jacket is a great choice if you really want to break in a jacket on a daily basis. It features front facing zipped cuffs and waist tabs to ensure you get exactly the fit that you want.

We’ve talked about Nine Lives many times before, but that’s just because their products are truly revolutionary. And if there is one piece that truly stands out as their icon it’s their Yak Rider. Shown here in a chestnut brown color, this jacket is made in Japan and features a beige microsuede lining, gusseted shoulders, and brass hardware.
