Blue In Green Launches In-House Selvedge Sashiko Sneakers

The summer sneaker landscape is kind of all over the place, but these Indigo Selvedge Sashiko Sneakers from the venerable Blue In Green* know exactly where they stand. Every detail is considered, every reference perfectly executed and they even come with a dustbag in case you forgot the level they were playing on. Hi-tops aren’t my thing these days, but it’s hard not to marvel at these.

*Timeout. If you’re ever in New York City, go to Blue in Green. It’s one of the best (and last) third-party retailers left in the city, and it’s one of the only places you can actually discover stuff. There’s something—or 10 things— for everyone, and there’s nothing like it, especially in 2021. Also, it’s easy to get to from pretty much anywhere, so that’s not an excuse. Time in.

Handmade with an indigo-dyed selvedge sashiko fabric from Pure Blue Japan and fully lined with leather, these vulcanized hi-tops feature a Vibram sole, flat cotton laces, leather patches at the back heel and achilles, rubber toe cap, and a red BIG logo (Blue in Green, for those who don’t want to check the math) at the inner ankle.

And also no Chuck (that I’m aware of) is going to give you indigo bleed, so if you’re looking to zig where a classic zags—and don’t feel like jumping on the PF Flyers farewell tour—these just might be your summer shoe.
