Fade Friday – Nudie Lean Dean Raw Japan Selvedge (4 Years, 1 Wash, 10 Soaks)

4 years in to his Nudie Lean Deans and Aidan in Tasmania, Australia has faded himself a good one.

Not only does his strategy of ‘wearing often, washing rarely’ sound like the anthem of raw denim, it really does represent all you need to do in order to achieve killer wear. And although his regiment sounds simply, the results are a complex array of  creases, hues, and repairs. For instance there are at least 49 shades of blue happening on this pair with the lightest color coming from the thighs, knees and seat. With whiskers extending down from the lap to below the knees, it makes sense that Aidan is a big walker because these lines get around!

With an overall darker back side, we get less emphasis but still can pick out some killer honeycombing and pocket imprints. The overall look is amplified by the always satisfying ‘new pair side by side comparison’. Best of luck on the next pair friend, if they look as half as good as these, you’ll have done well!
