The traditional pea coat is not something you would associate with this transitional period we’re currently in as its very much a thick ‘n’ heavy winter warmer, built for truly sub 10 degree conditions. However the very good people at Engineered Garments — you’re favorite brand’s favorite brand — have taken this iconic silhouette and no doubt made it way more appealing to most of you reading this right now with 12 oz. indigo denim.
Made in the USA, this update on a typically wool classic doesn’t look out of place at all. The ever-familiar double-breasted button front closure remains the focal point, but EG opted for a rounded shawl collar that also features a chin strap. A couple of slash pockets are easily missed amongst the sea of denim alongside 2 flap closure ones towards the back. Speaking of the back, it wouldn’t be an EG piece without an element of surprise and with the help of 4 snap buttons the entire jacket can be opened from the back- my only explanation for this would be to house more layers of EG underneath.
