Iron Heart’s ‘Lefty’ Modifed Type III Denim Jacket is Back in Stock

I’ve always had the same 2 challenges when rifling through rails of vintage Type III jackets and often those same challenges also carry over onto any repros I come across: 1. the arms are too short 2. too short in the body. Iron Heart has heeded my — and no doubt hundreds of other denim heads’ — call with another opportunity to acquire their perfectly modified “Lefty” Denim Type III Jacket.

This superb take on its namesake is made in Japan from the brand’s incredibly robust 19 oz. left-hand twill Japanese selvedge denim which is woven under extreme tension to create the deep indigo tone that runs throughout its yarns. If you’re an established denim head, you’ll know what a 19 oz. fabric will deliver in the patina department. If you’re new ’round here, just take a look at our fade archives and you’ll see what heavyweight denim has to offer.

What makes Iron Heart’s silhouette ‘modified’ is the length of the torso and the addition of handwarmer pockets — two adjustments that add a level of modern wearability to a Levi’s silhouette that took the world by storm over 60 years ago. The felled internal seams pile onto the durability, and the unsanforized denim being washed once will virtually most shrinkage.
