Universal Works Made a Reversible Olive Drab Mackinaw

Nottingham-based imprint Universal Works has always strived to deliver high-quality garments at accessible prices, and in the current climate this ethos is more than welcome. This season the British label takes this a step further by offering their take on the iconic Mackinaw jacket and making it fully reversible, meaning you essentially get two jackets!

The first, more conventional side of the two, sees an olive drab 100% cotton used throughout with the only exception being on the contrasted brown shawl fleece collar. Housed within the relaxed fit you’ll find a 4-button placket alongside waist and chest pockets inside and out. It’s the reverse side where things get interesting for me, that hi pile brown sherpa fleece from the collar switches with the olive cotton and makes its way to the upper panels of the jacket. The sleeves are adorned with a quilted construction that adds even more texture, with the olive cotton now used on the collar, button placket, and lower panels. My universal opinion here is that both sides work.
