Hiroshi Kato Introduces Its First Heavyweight 4-Way Stretch Selvedge Denim

Hiroshi Kato stays changing people’s perceptions of stretch selvedge and it’s just dropped its heaviest iteration of that concept yet.

The brand’s newly released ‘Mammoth’ Stretch Selvedge weighs in at 17.5 oz. per square yard, making it hefty enough to produce some high-contrast fades without being too cumbersome, with the added stretch making the break-in period that bit easier. Kato champions a proprietary 4-way stretch composition that provides a measure of comfort without sacrificing the ruggedness of raw selvedge denim. You only have to look at the images to see that these look like normal raws, and who couldn’t do with a comfy, slightly stretchy pair of raws? As I sit here breaking in some 21 oz. Samurais, I can assure you the prospect feels very attractive.

Coming in Kato’s Hammer (slim straight) and Pen Slim (a very slim straight), every pair of  Hiroshi Kato’s Mammoth jeans is made in the USA to a classic five-pocket pattern and comes finished with a navy-dyed leather waist patch, chain stitched hem, and polished silver buttons.

Available from Hiroshi Kato for $268.
