Studio D’Artisan’s 5698 Heavyweight Check Flannel Blends Plaid and Kasuri

This latest offering from Studio D’ Artisan may seem on the surface to be just another great flannel from the brand, but look a little closer and you’ll see a perfect example of Japanese heritage fused with classic Western workwear.

The 5698 “Midare Kasuri” Heavyweight Check Shirt is made in Japan from 100% cotton and takes its name from a Japanese weaving/dyeing technique that can be traced back as far as the 12th/13th century. Characterized by contrasting unbleached sub-yarns that appear throughout the check, SDA has used a modified version of this named “Ranre Kasuri” which is woven at low tension to allow the the overall slubby texture of the fabric to further enhance the erratic nature of the pattern achieved by said yarns being woven both vertically and horizontally.

In addition to the fiercely unique fabric, you’ll find a classic fit, two chest pockets, and brown nut buttons – all housed within an iconic color combination.

Available from Brooklyn Clothing priced at $281.
