Garment Reproduction of Workers doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue as a brand name, but they sure know how to make a piece of outerwear. Their Cezanne Atelier coat literally looks like the kind of wonky, oversized jacket-coat hybrid an old-world atelier would knock together, in the best possible way. It offers echoes of a time when pretty much all jackets had lapels, but with high-density cotton cutting through the antiquity to bring it to the modern day.
We know and love GRoW for left-field outerwear. Their Quasimodo Coat looks how it sounds, and the Cezanne Atelier is just as cool and unique in its own way. It’s made in Japan from super high-density cotton that has an almost techy look to it and comes in two muted colors – black and olive. The fit is unapologetically wide and sloppy, designed to be perched on your back as an encompassing and effortlessly cool outer layer, with two large, D-shaped patch pockets sitting toward the hem for utility.
A singular jetted pocket on the left chest along, the lapels, and double-button cuffs spark the juxtaposition between formal jacket and wide-boy overcoat — two sartorial entities that GRoW has spliced to near perfection with this release.
