LVC Reproduces 1879 Pleated Work Blouse Jacket in Loomstate Kaihara Mills Denim

Leave it to the original denim workwear kings to reinterpret their own past designs in a way that has us wanting more. The Levi’s Vintage Clothing 1879 Pleated Blouse Jacket in Natural Indigo Rigid takes inspiration from a pleated work blouse from the late 19th century, years before the introduction of the brand’s archetypal denim jackets.

What really stands out are the more delicate-looking pleats, as well as the roomy dual flap-closure pockets at the front, both of which are welcome details in a world overrun by truckers (the jackets, not the big rig drivers). This type of jacket just looks smart, stylish, and completely functional – imagine how many receipts and sweets you can stuff in these pockets over the many years this jacket will hold up for.

Details include: Loomstate (raw) 9 oz. 100% natural indigo-dyed cotton denim milled in Kaihara, Japan (that you really need to zoom in on and see the blue variations), white single needle stitching throughout, metal button front placket, bar tack reinforcements, button-adjusting cuffs, cinched waist belting at the back, antique roomy fit, reinforcing front and back yokes, and a nifty antique Levi’s tag at the center back of the waistline that you really don’t see anywhere anymore. Expect this denim to shrink when washed, so be sure to check the measures and size up if you’re worried it’ll shrink too much for your liking.

Made wholly in Japan and available for $451 from Cultizm.
