LVC Reissues 9Rivet Overalls Limited to 800 Pairs

Levi’s Vintage Clothing has just made a major release for early denim and workwear enthusiasts. Following on from their 1873XX Waist Overall release of last year, LVC has made a stitch-for-stitch reproduction of some of the earliest blue jeans in their archives – the 9rivet.

While conducting research for the development of their historic repro label, LVC was able to date some incredibly old garments in their illustrious archive – including a blue jean known to them as the ‘9rivet’. This name comes from the fact that the jeans only had 9 rivets, instead of the 11 found on most examples from the 1870s and beyond. The 9Rivet also featured a watch pocket on the waistband, denim pocket bags, sewn-on buttons, single-needle arcuate stitching, and a cinch back.

Today, the 9Rivet is back, and limited to just 800 pairs. LVC is marketing their 9Rivet Waist Overalls as a stitch-for-stitch reproduction of the original, which is stored securely in their fire-proof vault. They come in a straight-leg fit, with the OG 9 rivet construction, suspender buttons, rear cinch back, watch pocket, sew-on buttons, and a single rear pocket with arcuate stitching. Oh, and they’re made from deadstock 9 oz. Cone Mills White Oak selvedge. While Cone Mills wasn’t in operation in the early 1870s (it started in 1887), I can’t think of a more apt fabric to use on such a considered repro of some of the earliest denim workwear known to man.

We would have liked to see MiUSA production on this special pair in keeping with the historical theme, but the jeans are made in Turkey like most of LVC’s line. With that being said, the Turkish production of LVC garments presents no shortfall in quality in our eyes, and we don’t nitpick when Japanese labels like Fullcount or The Real McCoy’s make reproductions in Japan.

Each pair of 9Rivet Waist Overalls comes in a presentation box with special documents.
