Indigo is an interesting substance. For starters, it’s a pretty crummy dyestuff, which is actually the underlying reason why raw denim fades. That said, some denim labels have been pushing the boundaries of what makes denim raw.
Iron Heart has long been one of the forerunners in new styles and techniques and the Iron Heart 634S-B jeans are a great example. They’re crafted from a 21 oz. indigo denim which is then overdyed with a black fugitive pigment. As they get worn in, they will gradually fade from black to indigo to white. It’s quite an interesting concept and IronHeart has executed it perfectly.
Today’s Fade Friday is a pair relatively early into its lifetime, but is already well on its way to promising results. Worn by superdenim forum member Max Power, these jeans have been subjected to 5 months of regular wear and have yet to see a wash. Needless to say, we’re excited to see the results as Max is known for his fantastic fades.
