Fade Friday – Kaiga Denim Tsukuyomi (9 Months, 5 Washes, 3 Soaks)

Nine months is not a long time in the grand scheme of things, and especially when it comes to fading a pair of raw denim jeans. But Heddels reader Danny Pangarkbuan, of Indonesia, devoted nine months of hard, everyday wear on these Kaiga Denim Tsukuyomis, and has come out the other end with a product worthy of this week’s Fade Friday spot.

The only intel that we were given on these jeans is that they were worn daily while motorcycle riding and that they’ve had no repairs. Is the secret to crazy fades in Indonesia’s water? It’s hard to be certain, but, after five machine washes and three soaks, we do know that Danny wasn’t afraid to wash this pair.

It seems he has reached the magical stage of fading where the thighs are on the verge of going white, the honeycombs are still chock-full of contrast hidden in the folds, and, in this case, the hidden arcuates are shining through the back pockets with glory. While the darker tones around the ankles tells us these jeans are most likely worn cuffed, there’s still some mighty fine roping to take in all the same.
