Fade of the Day – Samurai Jeans S510XX (8 Years, 4 Washes, 1 Soak)

Thinking back to eight years ago, I can recall several important life events centered around graduating high school and starting my first year of college studies. I also know, with certainty, that raw denim wasn’t a part of my vocabulary back then, like it was for Heddels reader Jack Jefferey of Missoula, Montana. Jack has been rocking this pair of Samurai Jeans S510XXs since 2009, and has the fades to prove it.

It’s no doubt that these jeans were one of many pairs of pants in Jack’s rotation, or else they might not be in functioning shape right now, but holding onto any pair of jeans for eight years is impressive. He put these Sams through college and into the work force, wore them for recreational and rowdy activities, and, overall, gave ’em hell. They’re thrashed, slightly tattered, and a bit dirty with a mere four washes and one soak, but they’re definitely still wearable. While the whiskering is slight and the honeycombs don’t quite pop like some other jeans we see, the true highlight of this pair’s story is the texture shining through in the denim itself. We’ll leave it to you to come up with your own story on what happened to that right leg.
