Fade of the Day – Levi’s 501 Made in Japan (19 Months, 7 Washes, 5 Soaks)

Say what you will about Levi’s, but the proof is in the pudding (or in this case the fading). This well-loved pair of 501 Made in Japans were worn by Rizky R. Daskian of Indonesia for all sorts of good times over the last year and seven months, including spanning the transition from high school to college, earning some very well-rounded fades in the process.

Rizky started wearing these 501s in grade 11 and is currently a sophomore in college, and tells us he is an active member of his local Vespa community. We suspect many of the fades we’re seeing here were earned riding across East Java, Indonesia, on two wheels with the crew, from the dirty fades on the thighs to the roping that has formed around the ankle hem exposed in the cuff.

In all his travels, Rizky certainly wasn’t afraid to give his jeans a wash either, clocking in at seven washes and five soaks, which explains the light blue cast they take on today. While the contrast isn’t the main focus here, these are classic fades on a classic pair of blue jeans, and that’s what we love to see.
