We’ve seen a little less from Big John as of late. BJ is one of the original Japanese jeans maker (although not the original original), and we’ve come to know their product as well considered, even-handed, and with an attention to subtle detail.
That ethos is most heavily apparent in their flagship RARE line of denim, which pulls out all the stops on a fully featured pair of jeans. This pair is made from a 15.5oz. unsanforized shrink to fit Japanese selvedge denim, comes with leather-backed steel buttons and rivets, and indigo deerskin patch, and they even cut the jean so the leg-twists are accounted for in shrinkage.
You can get RARE for $285 at Okayama Denim.
