Fade of the Day – Visvim Social Sculpture 03 (3 Years, 2 Washes, 1 Soak)

Self-professed denim lover Hiroki Nakamura, founder and designer of Visvim, expressed that the fading qualities of denim were something he was heavily focused on when producing the brand’s jeans—and it looks like he got it just right. This pair of Visvim Social Sculpture 03 belong to Yucheng Zhu, of China, who’s been rocking them for three years to earn some killer fades.

We don’t know how exactly he achieved his fades, but Yucheng tells us he is a die-hard Visvim fan, so these jeans have probably seen a lot of wear over the years. Having only seen water three times, the indigo dye is still strong and deep in tone, but the fades are icy-white. We’ve got some well-established whiskers on the lap, and, on the reverse, some sharp honeycombs, which are just starting to shred. On top of that, subtle fades can be seen all over the denim, notably the stacking emerging towards the cuffs.

Some of the damage on these jeans may need seeing to, but if it’s the rustic, wabi-sabi characteristics of Visvim’s garments that Yucheng’s attracted to, then he has a winner in this pair of jeans.
