Fade of the Day – Levi’s 559XX Type 3 Trucker Jacket (10+ Years, Unknown Washes)

In most cases, we commend those who put in the work and develop the fades on their own. But if you keep your eyes open and stay alert, you can find some quality pieces with some nice fades second-hand. That’s the scenario with Logan Arey and this ten-year-old Levi’s 559XX Type 3 blanket-lined trucker jacket he came across in Laramie, Wyoming. He’s pretty stoked on it and we are as well, enough to make it our Fade Of The Day.

Logan surmises that in its previous life this big E jacket was likely the outer layer for a ranch hand, as Laramie is surrounded by ranching communities. This jacket has all the evidence of the hard work done on a ranch, including plenty of heavy distressing along the collar, and even a mysteriously missing right cuff. The other hallmark of a work jacket is the regular washing regimen—a necessity given all the dirt and sweat (and who knows what else) their owners’ encounter. While this jacket has some nice fade patterns that can be spotted in the arms, the fades are faint because of all the washes that it has undergone. Still, while short on high contrast fades this jacket is leaning towards an amazing electric blue.
