Fade of the Day – Samurai S634GX Musashi (11 Months, 2 Washes, 2 Soaks)

We’re used to seeing deadly fades from Samurai Jeans, but rarely do we see any well-worn double-indigo denim from the Japanese brand! This pair of special edition Samurai S634GX’s come to us courtesy of Ford Phethai of Thailand, and with just under a year of wear, he’s earned himself some solid fades.

These jeans are constructed from a double-indigo 17 oz. denim, which even the tropical climes of Thailand have struggled to break down. That said, there are some nice fades coming through the dye that remains. The lap is wearing down to the chalky-white tone we see so often from double-indigo denim, and some shimmering honeycombs have settled in behind the knees. The back pockets and cinch-adjuster have some nice patina, too, and some subtle train-track fades have emerged down the outseam.

As a 1920s-inspired model, these Samurais are super-wide-legged, so they may take a bit longer to fully shred. But with no repairs needed yet and the foundations of a strong wear pattern, the best is yet to come for Ford and his Samurais.
