Fade of the Day – Pure Blue Japan x Blue Owl Workshop PBO-001 (13 Months, 8 Washes, 1 Soak)

Renaissance man Ian Grindstaff from Rochester, New York, is showing off a Pure Blue Japan and Blue Owl Workshop collab for today’s Fade of the Day. Having his hands in screen printing, sewing, bartending, producing, and performing music means that Ian and his jeans are kept very busy.

For over a year, eight washes, and one soak, these jeans have been with Ian through the thick of it and have gained some serious battle scars. Apart from two crotch repairs, the jeans have held up strongly, leading to gorgeous wear patterns. What works so well for these jeans is their dark overall color contrasted with sharply charged fade lines, most notably the honeycombs which are the real show stoppers. They have been worn in so hard that the fabric has begun to wear out. Not to be glossed over are the rare lower leg fades. It’s still not clear as to how these are achieved due to their location away from areas of movement. However they were created, we salute you for it, Ian.

Because the lines are so strong, it will be very interesting to see how these jeans evolve after they become lighter and lighter as the months and years go by.
