Fade of the Day – Red Wing Trucker Wallet (7 Months)

It’s time to dive into the pocket of Karl Palette of the United Kingdom, where he has a wallet for today’s Fade of the Day.  For seven months Karl has used his Red Wing Trucker Wallet on a daily basis and it has held up well.

Along the way, the vegetable-tanned leather on this beast has picked up some strong patina. The front side of the wallet is speckled with light and dark patina marbling which is super easy on the eyes. The back is a little less uniform and a little more sporadic, in the best way possible. There is a significant lighter area that might receive the most friction on a day-to-day basis. Possibly the coolest part of the fading process are the long veins of darker patina as it gives the wallet a truly unique appearance.

Now you might look at this thing and wonder, what’s the secret to a perfectly broken-in leather wallet in under a year? Although there is no substitute for dedicated wear, beeswax might provide great supplementary support as Karl applies beeswax every other month.
