Nine Lives Dispatches a Melton Wool WWII Dispatch Coat

Many, many of our vintage-inspired military pieces are based on those worn by the American armed forces during WWII, but where’s the love for our allies? They had unintentionally debonair uniform pieces as well!

Nine Lives is making some moves to restore the balance in WWII militaria, by paying homage to the British Army Dispatch Coat (while making a few creative tweaks, of course). Unlike the majority of the 9L pieces, they don’t go too off the rails from the source material. Instead, opting to simply upgrading the materials and fit.

The coat’s fitted shoulders and oversized drape will make it a handsome addition to any outfit and their absurdly high-quality melton wool will keep you cozy and feel buttery soft doing it. The jacket’s wide lapels and Napoleon collar call to mind the famous trench coats worn in 1940s film noir, but the throat latch is pure standard-issue functionality.

A soft and silky cupra lining further elevates the comfort and internal and external pockets make for a piece that’s super pragmatic.

With all these beautiful components assembled and sewn in Japan, you know this will be a lifetime buy.
