Fade Friday – Mischief Denim Iron Label (3 Years, 4 Washes)

Happy Valentine’s Day, denim heads! If you need to feel some love today, we’ve got just the thing – Fade Friday.

Fulvian Adiseno from Indonesia has put his Mischief Denim Iron Label jeans through the wringer — like 10 times over — during their three-year tenure. He has them on the ropes but they just won’t quit. I’m not surprised by their resilience, though. After all, the regiment for these 23 oz. beasts consisted of hard daily wear and regular hiking trips in damp rainforests.

The wear on these jeans can be broken down into two categories, the first being structural integrity. There is something cool about letting things degrade without intervention. The back pockets of these jeans are literally peeling off, 0ne knee has busted through and the cuff creases are totally gnarled. But Fulvian just owns it – no repairs, just pure shred.

The second category is dye loss and classic fade hallmarks.  You know a pair of jeans has been worn hard when the blue hues are all-but-gone, replaced by a dirty green glow. The usual suspects are all present – whiskers that span down to the knees, crispy honeycombs, and some lovely, shimmering ankle-stacking to boot. Fulvian’s Mischief’s are yet another example of heavyweight denim’s potential for potent fade patterns.
