Phone Home with Munqa’s Alien Turquoise Broach

Munqa, a petite Japanese jewelry venture, is the brainchild of the artist Muu, a silversmith born and bred in Japan. The company’s jewelry stands out with its thoughtful and whimsical designs, creating distinctive one-of-a-kind pieces such as this Turquoise Alien broach.

Made from .925 sterling silver, the broach features a secure pin back and an alien-inspired design that looks suspiciously like E.T., only he’s flipping the bird as opposed to trying to phone home.

Every item is meticulously crafted, hand-stamped, and carved, eschewing mass production. Munqa coined the term “Newtive” to characterize its creations, symbolizing the fusion of “native” elements, such as the turquoise eyes, for inspiration with a touch of “new” modern themes.

If you’re a hard-to-buy-for individual that has everything they need, consider popping this on your birthday or Christmas list. It’s a hell of a conversation starter, that’s for sure.
