And just like that, my favorite part of the week is here: Fade Friday. This week’s installment features a pair of Mischief Denim worn by Resa Prasetia of Indonesia.
Remember that kid in high school that was a foot taller than everyone else, had a full beard, and never needed to know what a fake ID was? Yeah, these are the jean version of that guy. Ten washes and four soaks in, these jeans have only been worn for two years and 10 months but if you were to tell me they have been kicking around for 20 years, I would probably believe it.
Through college and working as a cameraman, Resa has worn these jeans everywhere. During all this time, they have needed no repairs although there is one spot that has begun to tear that Resa is keeping an eye on.
But enough small talk, its time to get down to the copper rivets. Get it? Like brass tax? Nevermind. These jeans are a double-edged sword of fading success. Firstly, the different shades of indigo that Resa has coaxed out are truly impressive. There isn’t a square inch on these jeans that hasn’t gone through a shade change. And the result of the different levels of fading is a stunning, well-worn souvenir. But of course for our purposes, its not just about the laid back and washed-out fades, its about the intense, pronounced fades as well. Don’t worry, these jeans deliver. They’re like an optical illusion, with the fade lines giving off the appearance of movement. Think the tide going in and out at the beach. The whiskers on the thighs, knees, and the ankle stacks are so satisfying. However, it’s the crazy razor-blade honeycombs against a totally faded-out back of the legs that might be the most impressive.
