We get a whole host of fades coming through our inbox and, although all fades are unique, every now and then we get something totally out there—like this pair of FDMTL Test Type 01 jeans. They come to us courtesy of Jim Wang, of Taiwan, and it’s safe to say these jeans are a little more than just a fade project.
Jim received these jeans as a birthday gift back in 2014, and for the first eight months, he wore them daily—even sleeping in them. It was after their first wash that he started the first of many customizations by painting Japanese model Rei Mizuna on the left thigh. After he’d worn them for nearly another year and earned himself some nice fades, like the shredded honeycombs and subtle whiskers, Jim went patch crazy and sewed 11 patches onto his jeans!
Jim has since met Rei Mizuna and had her sign his jeans next to her portait. Her autograph was the finishing touch to Jim’s zany project, and he tells us these will forever be one of his most cherished pairs of jeans.
