Fade of the Day – Momotaro x Blue Owl BOM-00X (2 Years, 7 Washes)

Back in black. Today’s Fade of the Day comes by way of L.A., in the form of this pair of MomotaroBlue Owl BOM-00X, which belong to Heddels reader Cody Halleman. Black denim is notoriously hard to fade, but after two years of wear, these Momotaros are well on their way to some dope shadow-fades.

Cody is a bartender, which means a lot of time on his feet and, naturally, a lot of spilled drinks. These jeans have seen seven washes over their two-year tenure, as a result. Some subtle whiskers and honeycombs are emerging through the darkness, but the charm of black denim comes in the chalky gray tones it develops as it slowly fades, and these Momos are certainly showing signs of this phenomenon.

The crotch has blown out twice so far, but Cody’s been quick to repair it himself and get these jeans back on his legs. And if he carries on at this rate, after another two years he’ll have himself a fade-to-grey masterpiece.
