Monitaly Drafts Americana for Their Spring/Summer 2018 Lookbook

Designer Yuki Matsuda is a man of many talents, as well as many brands. And while his interests are varied, his clothes are most often deconstructed Americana classics with a whole lot more going on than one might gather at first glance. This rule of thumb applies whether you’re slipping your foot into one of his Yuketen shoes or throwing on any of the cheeky pieces from this season’s collection from Monitaly.

This season from the latter is defined by subtle earth tones and generous cuts. Something about the khaki and navy sack suits are especially cool. The large, pleated pants with a slight taper look excellent paired with the oversized sack coats. Reinterpretations of various U.S. military field jackets have been on trend this season, and Monitaly throws the company hat into the ring with several takes on this menswear classic—vests, pullovers, and jackets in several color ways feature the classic cartridge pockets on the chest and at the hips.

All in all, the collection is roomy, breezy, and comfortable; but knowing the brand, you won’t be able to experience the full scope of the product until it’s actually on your bod. And if you care about your bod’s comfort this spring/summer season, you’ll nab something sweet featured in this lookbook.
