Five Plus One is our weekly series of buyer’s guides. We pick a specific category and dig up five great options along with one that’s a little outside the norm.
Everyone needs a good pair of slip-on shoes, and if your wardrobe is on the casual side then what’s better than a pair of slip-on sneakers?
Whether they’re made of canvas or leather, this style is comfortable, classic, and easy to put on when you’re out the door. While they’re not a style that appeals to everyone they’re a great choice of sneaker if you like their appearance.
1) P.F. Flyer: Lo Slip-On
P.F. Flyer’s Lo Slip-On, available in both black and white 10oz. duck canvas, is a great slip-on sneaker option if you’re on a budget.
Not only is it classically styled and inexpensive, but the padded collar will ensure a comfortable fit. It features two ventilation eyelets on the inside edge, a cemented cup sole, and elastic to ensure these shoes slip on but stay secure.
Available for $55 from P.F. Flyers.
2) Buttero: Tanino Slip-On
If you’re looking for a pair of quality, leather slip-on sneakers then look no further than Buttero’s Tanino Slip-On.

3) Shoes Like Pottery: Slip-On
Shoes Like Pottery makes some great sneakers out there with a unique finishing technique—each pair is kiln fired to vulcanize the rubber soles on the finished shoes.
These made in Japan sneakers feature a high quality, canvas exterior, padded throat, blue rubber sole bottom, and a whole lot of minimalist style. Whether you’re looking for a new pair of everyday sneakers or want to add another pair to the rotation, these slip-ons are a great choice.
Available for $129 from End Clothing.
4) Common Projects: Slip-On
Common Projects is well known for their simplistic sneakers, and their Slip-On sneakers are the most simplistic of all.
Like most of the other sneakers on this list, these sneakers featured elasticated gussets, a cup sole, a padded collar, and great, simple style. These made in Italy sneakers might not be the heavy-duty boots you’re used to, but if you’re looking for a comfortable pair of slip-ons there is no better option.
Available for $425 from SSENSE.
5) Löf and Tung: Barbaro Sportif Slip-On
If you’re looking for a pair of slip-on sneakers that are a bit dressier than most, then Löf and Tung‘s Barbaro Sportif Slip-On is a great choice.
They’re made without the usual elasticated gussets and feature French binding around the entire top opening, which gives them a bit more of a refined look. These made in Spain sneakers are constructed from wholecut suede with a stitched cup sole.
Available for €169 (~$187 USD) from Skoaktiebolaget.
Plus One – Hender Scheme: MIP-17 Slip-On
