Buzz Rickson’s William Gibson Line Welcomes The A-2 Jacket To The Jungle

The relationship between Buzz Rickson’s and novelist William Gibson dates back to 2004 after the release of Gibson’s best-selling ‘Pattern Recognition’. In the book, Cayce Pollard treasures a Buzz Rickson’s black MA-1 Flight Jacket. Although the original MA-1 was never produced in black nor had the brand offered one prior to the book, this seemed like the ideal opportunity for a partnership. Ever since, the duo has offered a collection inspired by Gibson’s fictional black MA-1, taking classic historical military garments and offering them in a modern, monochrome color pallet.

This time around, the pair have targeted another ace of the flight jacket world; the A-2. Originally issued to pilots during World War II and made from leather (think Virgil Hilts in The Great Escape), this variant adopts an all-black densely woven jungle cloth for the body. Featuring a cotton sateen liner, period-correct Talon zipper, knitted wool cuffs, and waistband, the Buzz Rickson’s x William Gibson Jungle Cloth A-2 Jacket in Antique Black is a stitch perfect reproduction with a contemporary twist.

A fine addition to the armory of this on-going collaboration, the jacket is made in Japan and has all the attention to detail you’d expect from masters of military reproduction Buzz Rickson’s.
