Studio D’Artisan Updates Its High-Tapered Fit With Its SD-909 Jean

Studio D’Artisan just channeled the soul of workwear from yesteryear in a modern-day package with their SD-909 High Rise Tapered G3 Series jeans. See, the thing is, this rare and intricately produced, shrink-to-fit raw selvedge denim was woven with low tension on one of Japan’s original 50-year old power looms that runs extremely slow, even requiring hand operation to function. The result is a slubby fabric with uneven yarns that creates a rough texture.

This fabric is perfect for the unveiling of SDA’s new high rise tapered fit featuring a true high rise, roomy seat and thigh, wiggle room in the knee, but a confident taper down to a narrow hem.

Coming in classic five-pocket construction and polished off with a nickel-plated brass button fly, engraved copper rivets, duck canvas pocket bags, and a goat leather patch — these jeans can be marveled at on a micro and macro level –and they serve as a perfect example of mixing the old with the new.
