TCB Faithfully Reproduces Levi’s 501XX From The 40s

TCB inches closer to the most accurate reproduction of the WWII-era Levi’s 501 with its 40s Jean, because there’s no reason to fix what ain’t broken.

Hajime Inoue, TCB’s proprietor, took the time and did the research to discover what it takes to make that highly coveted Levi’s WW2-era fabric fades come true. Turns out it’s a combination of EMOT cotton yarns, hard twisted, and unevenly loomed on a vintage Toyoda. What’s EMOT, you ask? That’s cotton sourced from Eastern Memphis, New Orleans, and Texas—a combo that results in a vintage fade that could make a grown denim lover cry—you might even tear up looking at the closeup shot of this fabric.

These jawns are complete with all 40s details you’ve come to know and love, including a high-rise, roomy straight leg fit, 5-pocket design, era-accurate pocket shapes, rivet reinforcements, metal button fly, red tab on the back pocket, chainstitched waistband, and filled-in belt loops—all hand made by the denim wizards TCB in Japan.
