John Lofgren’ Steel Gang SW Boots are The Ultimate Patina Project

Leave it to John Lofgren to make some of the most incredible boots we’ve ever seen, the Steel Gang SW Boots Bone Vegetable Tanned Leather. The thing that really stands out here, apart from the obviously incredible design work and construction, is that sweet Italian Badalassi Carlo leather. I mean, is there a nicer vegetable-tanned leather out there? Debatable.

Badalassi Carlo leather comes from the Badalassi tannery in Italy, where they’re producing some of the finest leathers in the world. Minimal waste, minimal blemishing, and vegetable-tanned to a perfect hue that desperately wants you to wear, scuff, and generally destroy them (maybe not right away). These are a pair of boots made for a lifelong journey.

The Steel Gang SW Boot comes complete with Goodyear welted construction, USA-made storm welts to keep the elements out, single/double/triple-stitched seams, a stacked leather heel, Japanese-made steel shank, Japanese brass hardware, custom leather heel pad, all-on-top of a USA-made Vibram 705 half sole and 700 heel. The boots ship in a Japanese-made dust bag.
