Iron Heart Issues Stealthy Sheepskin Modified Type III

Iron Heart‘s Sheepskin Modified Type III jacket is like a rebel with a soft side. A buttery smooth soft side, in fact.

Made in Japan from black sheepskin suede leather, the jacket features tonal stitching throughout, Iron Heart branded tack buttons, two front flap pockets with tack button fastenings, heavy cotton twill pocket pages, and internal felled seams. This version of the iconic Type III silhouette has been modified by IH to offer up a slightly longer body than the original Levi’s patterns and features the addition of two external hand-warmer pockets, two internal snap-fastened ‘gun’ pockets, and a charcoal grey cotton twill lining for comfort.

The Sheepskin Modified Type III Jacket is not for the faint of heart or the lightness of wallet. It very much falls into the category of investment pieces that require a serious commitment to style and a willingness to splurge. That said, if you look at it through the lens of the ol’ trusty cost-per-wear model, it’ll end up easily paying for itself, and then some, over the course of its lifetime.

Now, on one hand, one might argue that releasing a sheepskin variation of a jacket that already lends itself more to the colder months in summer is bold. On the other, you could argue that it’s part of the jacket’s allure – going against the grain and embodying a rebellious spirit. After all, this isn’t the type of jacket you’d see on your neighborhood Ned Flanders now, is it?

Available for $1,450 from Iron Heart.
