Left Field NYC Issues its Smokestacks Cut in Lee-Style 11.5 oz. Jelt Denim

It’s denim! It’s felt! Nope, it’s Jelt! Left Field NYC‘s Smokestacks 11.5 Oz. Jelt Denim is a sturdy, beautiful, and special pair of jeans. It doesn’t appear that the name has anything to do with felt at all, but the material is tightly woven and textured – kind of like a felt? Either way, this stuff is beautiful.

‘Jelt Denim’ was originally used by Lee in the 1920s, who wanted to employ a lighter and more comfortable denim that could stand up to the durability and function of average-weight denim, thanks to its tightly woven, twisted cotton yarns.

The Smokestacks are a relaxed, straight leg fit with a wider leg compared to the rest of Left Field’s fits. These are a nice breezy cut for the summer, especially because they’re lightweight, but really, they’re good for all seasons. They’re done up with all the usual 5-pocket jean details: US-made copper hardware, Left Field pick and shovel branded hardware, contrast stitching, hidden rivet reinforcements, bar tack stitching, chainstitched hems and waistband, white selvedge ID, some really snazzy and colorful LFNYC coal miner bandana pocket bags, cowhide leather patch — all made in the USA.

Available for $230 from Franklin & Poe.
